چکیده
Low-pressure plasma etching of a recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film is studied in comparison to virgin PET and polypropylene (PP) using capacitively coupled radio frequency (RF) reactor. Recycled polymers are distinguished by increased impurity content weakened mechanical properties, both affecting adhesion processes. Mild conditions have been selected maintain the material bulk properties polymers. The etch rates morphology polymer samples were thus determined at floating potential compared with RF electrode for varying argon/oxygen gas mixtures, duration, sample size. Thermoanalytical X-ray techniques used characterize before after treatment. Finally, adhesive-tape peel tests proved that excellent silver coatings can also be achieved on plasma-treated film.

Surface modification of polymers using a multi-step plasma treatment
We report a simple method for fabrication of one-dimensional, two-dimensional and nested hierarchical wrinkling patterns on polymeric surfaces using plasma treatment. The morphology of wrinkle patterns, specifically the wavelength and amplitude of each wrinkle generation, is controlled by the treatment time and stretching release after each treatment step. By systematically varying these two ke...
متن کاملBitumens Modified with Recycled Polymers
Increasing traffic loading and volumes on roads has led to the use of polymer modified binders to improve the performance of bitumen in terms of additional strength, durability and increased resistance to rutting and fatigue cracking. Generally those modifiers currently in use are virgin polymers but the research investigate the possibility of using waste polymers instead. The aim was to find a...
متن کاملSurface Modification by Plasma Polymerization and Application of Plasma Polymers as Biomaterials
The work described in this thesis concerns the plasma polymers used for immobilization and adsorption of biomolecules. In particular, thin polymeric films bearing ether, anhydride, and amine functionalities were synthesis by plasma polymerization of these group containing monomers, i.e. di-(ethylene glycol) vinyl ether (EO2), maleic anhydride (MA), and allylamine (AA). Additionally, the charact...

Maleic anhydride (MAN) copolymers with methyl methacrylate(MMA), ethyl methacrylate(EMA), methyl acrylate(MA), ethyl acrylate (EA) and buthyl acrylate (BA) ( in a 1:1 mole ratio) were synthesized by free radical polymerizations method under vacuum -azobis(isobutironitrile)(AIBN) as an initiator of reaction at 701C. The copolymer compositions were determined using related 1H NMR spectra techni...
متن کاملA short review on Ferrofluids surface modification by natural and biocompatible polymers
This paper provides an overview of how the surface properties of ferromagnetic nanoparticles dispersed in fluids is modified by natural and biocompatible polymers. Among common magnetic nanoparticles, magnetite (Fe3O4) and maghemite (g-Fe203) are popular candidates because of their biocompatibility. Natural polymeric coating materials are the most commonly used biocompatible magnetic nanopartic...
